Michele Peveril, spokesperson for the Halifax Port Authority, acknowledged that the agency can't do anything to prevent similar thefts in the future until police determine how the container was stolen. ~~~DUH~~~
She said containers have to go through several security checkpoints to be allowed to leave a terminal.
"This is an issue that the police need the time to look into and address because this is the sort of thing the Port of Halifax can't have happen," she said.
Farah Mohamed, a spokeswoman for Anne McLellan, the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, declined comment on the matter yesterday
