Don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. Since I don't believe in coincidence, I'd say that they are connected in some way.
With the GOP and DNC conventions upcoming in NYC and Boston, I'd expect to see increased naval activity along the east coast. Remember the aircraft carrier that was stationed just off NYC right after 9/11/01.
