How about lack of adequate funding to support
training and maintenance on the home front. With
so much of our military resources devoted to Iraq
and Afghanistan, are the young men and women on
duty state side being asked to defend native soil
on the cheap? Have we inadvertently left the hen
house door open while we were out chasing the foxes
over hill and dale?

Yes, lack of funding could be part of the reason for the loss of so many planes.

So could pilots who do not have proper training.

And someone on the flight line who wants the planes out of service.
