Not "massive", not "systemic", not involving "other Iraqi prisons". The "wholesale attempt" is simply using the sense that God gave us and seeing what was done to Berg by the murdering terrorist thugs and realizing the threat we are facing.
The "massive scandal" is what happened to the author's brain.

I think there are a lot of people who need to wrap their minds around a working definition of the word "torture." Slowly cutting a man's head off while he screams in agony and videotaping it meets the definition of torture, hands down. Humiliating terrorist men with sex games at the hands of women, while disgusting, and arguably abusinve, is not even in the same league. These morons need to buy themselves a clue.

Urban legends are starting...A teacher at my school thought the CIA killed him to cover up the prison scandal.
The story is simple. Berg sneaked into Iraq unaccompanied. The State Department issued out warnings about the dangers traveling in Iraq. He was picked up by the Iraqi Police because he didn't have the proper paperwork. FBI checked on him because he came into Iraq unacompanied, then State Department offered him a free airfare back to the US because it was too dangerous to be there. He refused and continued to roam around the country until the terrorist got him. He want to make a killing with his communication business but he lost his head instead.
Listening to audio. I think these are the same guys that said we did not land on the moon, and that there is a large hole in the antarctic that leads to an inner earth population.
I hadn't read that Berg had said that before either. He disgraces his son and his country.

I think its a psychological phenomenon, as one gets more desperate to justify ones views, one will latch onto more and more extreme views that one normally wouldn't consider.

Being a natural skeptic about any thing I read in any media channel, I question almost every report I read.
I did extensive research on this event and would like to share my results with you all.
I was one of the first people to discover the use of a second camera and posted that on my website prior to any other reports or confirmations.
This dispells any notion of a time lapse as first mentioned in the anti war blogs.
chroning the tapes and times will back this up and a slow down at one point reveals a second camera man.
There were so many unexplainable points being brought out that the shear volume of them was suspicious to me in itself.
I mean if the US actually did this, the intellegence level of the purpatrators was nil if they left him in US issued prison garb.
After reading the VERY FIRST report of the incident in the Al Jazeera english website, it became very feasible that the Al Q was purposely trying to have the Americans implicated by skeptics.
If the anti-Bush crowd was led to believe that US persons may have staged the event, than the anti bush sentiment would accelerate.
If the PRO Bush crowd believed it to be a retalitory act for prisoner abuse, it would gnaw at their conscience, regardless of how unjustified it was.
A win/win situation.
The article in Al Jazeer stated firstly that the beheading was "apparent".
They then describe the video scene as Berg in a "GUANTANAMO STYLE OVERALLS".
They also FALSELY report that he was pushed from a WHITE PLASTIC CHAIR", which was in the video but would hardly be worth a mention, unless they could give it a part in the play.
ALso the BARE ROOM reference is taken from the initial cbs reports of AbuG prison, when the electricution room was described.
All these points are now the skeptics biggest arguments.
This is one Peace Advocate, who believes that the video is authenticly Al Q, but would like to expose what I believe is a dupe job to stir differences in the American Public.
Let's assume for a moment that this guy is the Genius of the Universe, and that he has exactly nailed it. Rummie & crew had this guy nailed to provide a moral equivalent that diverts American attention from Abu Ghraib.
1. Has it been effective in diverting attention?
I would say, "no, it hasn't been." I hear "abu ghraib" all over the news. When a leading conservative such as Fred Barnes is still talking about Rummie's departure, then things are still amiss.
2. Could it EVER have been effective?
I would say, "no, it could never have been effective if the partisanship in American politics is real."
Why would that "finger" Berg, seeing as how his father was sympathetic to the terrorist cause? Add to that, the fact that while Berg was in US or Iraqi or whomever's custody, he was ALIVE and SAFE. And that the US did everything they could, short of deporting the man, to get him out of harm's way. Only after he was released BECAUSE of legal pressure from his father, did he somehow get kidnapped, and the rest is atrocity history.
No, the FR, the US, and pro-coalition Iraqis are clearly TOTALLY without guilt in this case. If the elder Berg wants to blame someone, blame the bloodthirsty, antisemitic terrorist murderers that committed the crime, and his own foolishness in supporting them.
