good question....one ive puzzled over as well. my take is that these particular elitists, the hollyweirdos, are really no longer motivated by profit (hard for us working stiffs to believe, i know)- theyre already as rich as croseus- so they hang out with each other at cocktail parties and other "benefits" to discuss their latest enlightened "cause" (from saving bloviating zeppelins- oops, sorry...."whales" to....well, you get the picture), and how superior they are to the rest of the hoi polloi because they feeeeeeeeel the whale's, snail darter's, ozone's, criminal's, or "revolutionary's" pain. they're "one with the struggle" (to enlighten the rest of us, to fight "oppression" & "injustice", you understand).
thus, it's all about power not money. no?(...one may say) then you tell ME why there's no "ten commandments"-caliber movies being made. (mel gibson - alone! - aside) where is today's john wayne? jimmy stewart? "boy's town"? & many others too numerous to mention here.....
the profit motive has assuredly taken a back seat to the lust for power
Want to know why very rich people like taxes?
It's easy - it eliminates the competition.
Confused? Let me explain.
In the absence of taxes, wealth can be created and accumulated almost instantly.
Taxes have the effect of slowing down the rate of growth.
High taxes slow down the rate of growth to a crawl, such that no one can achieve wealth in their lifetime.
The very wealthy of course, already own their wealth. They own land, companies, investments, houses, etc.
You will never compete with their ownership because you are taxed to death.
They don't worry about losing wealth due to taxes. Taxes rarely cause a negative income. And with the available legal and financial resources at their disposal, the very wealthy rarely pay taxes - ask Teresa Heinz.
High taxes preserve the 'Class System'. Born poor, stay poor. Born rich, stay rich.
Now that they are rich, the Hollywood Left can't wait to raise YOUR taxes to fund THEIR favorite cause to assuage their guilt of being rich.
