The full statements in context (I'll look it up in a few) sounds perfectly reasonable as applied to a person who went there to help in the rebuilding of Iraq, as he did.

LISTEN to what the father said!!! He did NOT say that Nick was the est friend to the Iraqis...that would have made sense and NO ONE would have questioned this any further!!
