NO! No free pass. The country is more important than the feelings of the Berg Family. Were they the least bit patriotic, they would understand who is the enemy, who killed their son, and who is going to protect their American asses from terrorism.

Agreed. Their son knew it was dangerous, but he went to help the Iraqis anyway. If his parents respected their son, they would not disgrace him this way.

PD, I usually agree with most of your posts, but will just have to agree to disagree about this one...for now. Relatives of someone who's committed suicide initially spend a lot of time blaming themselves, blaming God, blaming anything and everyone. I see this similarly, but much much more intense. No matter how hard I try, I can't even get close to understanding what it would do to my psyche to see a video of my son, or my brother, slaughtered the way Nick Berg was. I've tried to imagine the rage I feel being multiplied by several thousand fold, but even that's not close to what they're feeling, I'm sure.
If the Berg family says things that sound delusional or even psychotic for a time, I can't be angry with them or think they don't respect or care about Nicholas. On the other hand, if, like those despicable 9/11 widows, they're still singing this song a month from now and making the talkshow rounds, I will change my mind.

I gave them a pass because of the brutal crime..The press is milking it.I do the same for military families. Perhaps I am being too kind to the Bergs..I had not realized that he had no visa.
