Some of those who fought for the freedom of Texas were Mexican. One of the central writers of the Texas Constitution was Mexican. You probably know his name, I can't remember it right now.

I can't either. Last year I got interested in the Alamo and read just about everything I could find on it.

I was amazed at how quickly those heros became second class citizens, even to the point of having to escape to Mexico of all places, simply because of their race.

You read the letters from out troops or talk to the ones returning, the ones who are fighting and dying over there, and they almost universally have very positive things to say about the average Iraqi. Oh well, what do they know.

I thought they were Texans. The people of Texas could be of Spanish, English or other ancestry when Spain governed the territory. Even today there are people you find in New Mexico and Texas that get called "mexican" who really don't appreciate it --- just having a Spanish last name doesn't make you a Mexican.
