I think it's time for crisp operational definitions. To me, there is a vast distinction between Islam and Islamism. I define the latter as a procrustean geopolitical movement which is comprised of a hybrid between anti colonial uprisings of the 1st half the the 20th century, with revolutionary proxy warfare against the West. There is far more going on in this war than simple religious conflict.
