Wow, this is an excellent op-ed which sums up my feeling. I'm tired of Bush worrying about offending Muslim sensibilities while Americans die.

There has been no real retaliation for Fallajah massacre

Insurgent attack continue a year on.

Entire Iraqi cities are off limit because they all seem to be “holy.”

This war cannot be waged with half-measures.

Well said! That’s how we lost Vietnam and how we are going to lose in Iraq.

Mr. Bush, when did you get scared of the leftist media?

I just finished watching the video and I am AMAZED, though I shouldn't be, by the level of brutality exhibited in it. After watching the video and finding myself sickened to my stomach by it, it is clear to me that what is being written about in this op-ed is the honest to goodness truth! It's time to f*c#%n RAZE Fallujah. No more Political Correctness. No more nice nice. It's time to destroy those not willing to cop to what we want to do in Iraq. I feel ill watching what they did to that poor man!

The abuse committed there by a handful of soldiers was not typical; nor is it acceptable.

How about REWARDING the guards in question for employing inventive methods of breaking terrorists instead of "not accepting" them, for starters. A lot of righteous outrage, but a little torture of murderers is already too much for the "outraged" types??? Would YOU take Al-Zarkawi on a leash?

Yesterday, the White House promised to "pursue those responsible and bring them to justice."

That sounds like clinton after the Cole bombing. I hope Bush doesn't go that route, but paves the desert with glass.

The plan was to march on Bagdad, shock & awe until Saddam
was killed or ran to Syria or somewhere, Have a parade, install Chalabi as Shah of Iraq, have a Fifth Avenue parade
and regular unleaded would hover around .99 a gallon.

What happened?

I think Bush doesn't want to kill any innocents among the guilty.

But I see no reason why he doesn't right now drop a major bomb on some camp that makes an impression and puts fears of retribution in the souls of al Qaeda.

Big bomb right now where all the cameras can see it.

The hand-wringing over the war in Iraq and over even the modest steps America took to defend itself, like the Patriot Act - suggests that folks truly have lost sight of what the war is about.

Yesterday they got a shocking reminder. And now they know: This war cannot be waged with half-measures.

It can end only with the total annihilation of those who practice butchery and barbarism. Those who have set as their goal the destruction of America.

Keep your eyes on the ball. 9/11 , 3/11 . Daniel Pearl. Nick Berg.

Daniel Pearl was 3-11?
Nick Berg 5-11.

That is right, you shouldn't be amazed. Why would you be amazed? The men who killed Berg were being 'good' Muslims. They did exactly as their Koran instructed. Mohammed would be proud.

This is an A-1+ tough talking oped.
Let's compare it with the NYT.
Until our biased media gets the picture,
too many Americans won't.

The plan was to ... What happened?

Saddam planned and executed an insurgency. Our enemies joined in. They are not stupid - they play on our weaknesses, and they have had some successes. Sorry!

I'm still waiting for Michael Moore's response to this decapitation. He said a couple of weeks ago that the people we fought in Iraq weren't terrorists. He said that they weren't the enemy. He also said that they would win.

I want to see what his response is to the war crimes committed by the side for which he cheers. Lumpy Riefenstahl is a traitorous SOB who provides aid and comfort to the enemies of America.

Heads Up... from Michael Moore

The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not "insurgents" or "terrorists" or "The Enemy." They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win. Get it, Mr. Bush?

[snip]

I oppose the U.N. or anyone else risking the lives of their citizens to extract us from our debacle. I'm sorry, but the majority of Americans supported this war once it began and, sadly, that majority must now sacrifice their children until enough blood has been let that maybe -- just maybe -- God and the Iraqi people will forgive us in the end.

I haven't been able to watch the video yet. I haven't gone searching for a link, because i think I'll get sick.

This is a REAL outrage, and I feel so sad for his family.

Will King Abdullah of Jordan and the King Fahd of Saudi Arabia come on Fox News and apologize?

Will his death go in vain? I think the deaths in Fallajah have. All that happened was a Mexican standoff.

Nick Berg's video was released today. He was murdered earlier. His body was found Saturday.

He'd been kidnapped for about a month. I don't know if the government was unaware that he was kidnapped (since he reportedly was not employed over in Iraq; who'd know he was missing?). He was reportedly kidnapped the same day as the man who later escaped. We saw footage of him shot by his kidnappers while he was in captivity.

I think you are right. I also think that is why his job approval rating is falling. Thank heavens we didn't have that type of attitude during WWII. We would have lost the war...and we will lose this if we don't wake up. The President's job approval rating would probably approach 80% if he started the carpet bombing tomorrow.

The left would rather win the 2004 election than the war in Iraq. That's "what happened".

It emboldened our enemies (our being America's, not just conservatives).

Also worth noting is that he wasn't kidnapped in a response to the "outrage" over the prison abuse scandal. He was kidnapped for being a Westerner/American/Jew; this probably factored more into his death than the prison story.

I will say that the prison story gave them a motive to kill him "now" rather than hold onto him longer. That plus another hostage had already escaped.
