One of my homeschooled children graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgetown College this past Saturday. She is going to attend the University of Cincinnati graduate school next fall on a 100% scholarship with a healthy stipend to help out.

Yes, but don't forge that "for every homeschooler who aces a spelling bee, there's some poor child being "instructed" by a parent who's barely literate herself." See, the author has already countered our arguments. Isn't he clever? LOL

I guess I'd better put my kids back in school because if YOUR kids are doing well, mine must not be and I must be illiterate.

Congratulations.

An article in The Washington Times (May 9, 2004, p. D1 & D3), "Home-schooling: Nontraditional learning receiving high marks" by Karen Goldberg Goff, gave quite a different slant.
