Sounds like someone is green with envy. They're watching tomorrows leaders being taught, and cannot join them due to their own ignorance.
So....I'll just take this moment to say : "Neeener neener neener!"

"Teachers in the public school system are required to have certification and college degrees, . . . "

. . . and courses in how to teach first-graders how not to get pregnant ala Monica, and how to tell the difference between a balloon and a condum, and how the fist can be used in a friendly, intimate way other than punching out a bully.

"Bingle, Bangle, Bungle, I don't want to leave the jungle, oh no, no, no, no."

Bump for later reading, dissection and freeping.

Here's another one.

Homeschoolers keep the faith - Is this education - or indoctrination?

"I just can't see homeschooling providing adequate socialization."

I wonder just what kind of "socialization" she wishes to twist their little minds with.

"Sometimes I even wonder if they're a manufactured race along the lines of the Stepford wives in Ira Levin's book..."

And I wonder just what kind of "Stepford wives" her brand of "socialization" is intended to create.

Beyond a certain age, children and mothers are just not meant to be isolated together. It's unnatural.

This pathetic victim of government schooling doesn't realize that compulsory government schooling didn't begin until the mid-1800s. Until that time, homeschooling was rightly seen as natural. Until that time, compulsory government schooling was rightly seen as unnatural, and families successfully fought off such deluded utopian schemes.

In fact, the militia was called out to restore order in Barnstable County, the last county in Massachusetts to implement government schooling in 1885.

We know from the natural law that parents should be a child's primary educators. This natural right has been recognized in several papal encyclicals.

Oh, those poor middle-class Mom homeschoolers. They really must divest themselves of their kids, ha ha ha.

NC has never struck me as a state foolish enough to waste time with 'hate spoeech' crime legislation, but if they did, I wonder how this column would stand up to that.

For example, replacing African-American or Hispanic would result in the author stating:

"You know how there are terrorist cells embedded throughout the world? Well, in my neighborhood we have numerous 'African-American' cells humming in the cul-de-sacs. They're almost as scary as the terrorist ones in some ways -- and they definitely have some traits in common with them."

Or

"Yes, I know that Hispanic kids have won high-profile academic contests, but for every Hispanic who aces a spelling bee, there's some poor child being 'instructed' by a parent who's barely literate herself."

At first, I thought this pathetic piece was a satire.

Then, I remembered why it is that I believe that only the kids can shut down the government re-education camps.

Many, many adults are really as stupid as this woman. They really are.

Kids - it's up to you! Disrespect wrongful authority!

This article had the makings of great satire. However, it seems as if this guy is sincerely ignorant.

Ya know, I'm thinking Butch Reno is the secret author of this heap of TRIPE! After all, she already considers me a Cultist, so how much more of a leap is required to make me a glassy-eyed terrorist? This article is SO troll-like as to barely deserve a reply!

Note to Diva: I'm NOT saying you're a troll--only the folks at Creative Loafing! ;)

Like the Stepford robots, they're programmed to fulfill their husbands' fantasies, only in this case it's their role as the Ultimate Selfless Mothers

____

I can't even read anymore. I guess it would surprise this fool that it was *me*, the mother, who was interested in homeschooling. I can't say I've found myself to be the exception in the circles I am in either.

May I also suggest that the author never have children. I notice she sees children as a burden, making a mother feel trapped, etc. There seems to be very little she has positive to say about children in general. Perhaps that is why she does not "get it".

What's scary is that a lot of the homeschooling faithful are as fueled by a fanatical, religion-based belief in their mission as Islamist terrorists, and seem to be just about as brainwashed.

If this were true, this author would not have survived writing this article.

Sadly typical of the modern American Parent. Your child is not your beloved offspring, s/he's a burdunsome hinderence which should be shuffled out of your presence at every oppertunity.

Barf indeed.

This is a spoof, right?

Prolly not. But what it is is a clear line between those who "get it" and those who do not.

Between those who see the danger to their most precious treasure and those who do not.

Between those who do not even understand why our children are our most precious treasure, and those who do.

Between those who are well fitted to be slaves and those who are not.

Sirs and Madams,

It is incumbant upon you to stage an intervention as soon as possible for Quinn Cotton.

I can not begin to imagine what horrible events have happened in her life, to so poison her mind, outlook, and perceptions of her neighbors.

Her recent column comparing homeschoolers to Islamic terrorists is so far beyond the pale that it must be considered a cry for help. One can only assume that she is stark raving mad.

I trust that those of you who work with her on a daily basis will attempt to get her some professional help.

Let's first acknowledge that the "Alternative Weeklies" are barf-level tabloids.

Then we neet to explore the fact that John Grooms, who frequently claims to be the most tolerant of all who are tolerant, is deeply prejudiced against all Christians, all conservatives and all Republicans--in other words, 70% of the population of Charlotte.

The only ones who pick up his FREE tabloid are single adults who are looking for the entertainment and party scene.

It's only natural that his hatred of those who are different from him would also include homeschoolers.

A Homeschool household in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area should sue this man for "hate speech".
