Assuming it's merely a matter of consensual sex between two soldiers, I don't see what the big deal is. Sure its against the UCMJ, and as such the legal process ought to be followed. But this isn't worthy of a national news story.

If you recall from your Constitution, the regulating of the military is the specific domain of the Congress. That makes this of public interest.
More, though, is the fact that the sex mentioned is included in the Abu Ghraib photos. What were they thinking?!?
