If Bush gets re-elected, one of the satisfactions will be the Europeans going nuts at the prospect of four more years. They are going broke and dying out and are unable to defend their countries against an Islamic invasion, and they have nothing better to do than complain that Bush is a Christian who prays.

Thank you Texas Eagle, "The Prayer at Valley Forge" I have heard of this painting but I do not remember ever seeing it.
Powerful picture

Good grief! Another hit piece by the NYT, You are halfway through the article before anyone admits to admiring Bush and before someone is analytial enough to realize hating Bush and his admin. is the easy simplistic way to explain the Am-Eur rift, and to suggest it is not all Bush's fault. The Euro-psuedo-intellects do not feel comfortable with plain speaking. They prefer the toothy grin, the condescending air, and the stilletto held behind the back--the better to stab you with, my dear.

In the words of "Damn Yankees"
Don't Tread On Me
Written by Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, Ted Nugent
Freedom rider
On a midnight cruise
On my way
I got nothing to lose
Sister mercy
Gonna take my hand
Lead me over
To the promised land
But you'd better not set your sights on me
'Cause it just might spoil your victory
Don't you dare
Don't you tread on me
Don't you tread on me
Don't you try
And make some fool of me
Don't you tread on me
We walked the gound
Of ancient ones
Lit the fire
With a rising sun
You and me
We got a full on rage
Won't get fooled
No I won't be caged
Make love not war was your claim to fame
Now you're takin' me down, well I won't be tamed
Don't you dare
Don't you tread on me
Don't you tread on me
Don't you try
And make some fool of me
Don't you tread on me
Don't you dare
Don't you tread on me
Don't you tread on me
Don't you dare forget your history
Don't you tread on me!

Leftists pull that 'he's stupid' crap with EVERY Republican President. It's just part of their propaganda routine. My answer to them is....
'he's smart enough to have outfoxed you Dems at every turn. what does that say about YOUR intelligence???'
At that point, they usually either get emotional/mad and start cussing, or they STFU.
Whatever works.....hehehe

Europeans are influenced by propaganda as much as anyone else. There is a LOT of US-Democrat-fuelled anti-Bush propaganda in Europe. There is NO anti-Kerry or Pro-Bush propaganda in Europe. If you all don't care what Europe thinks then fine. I think Bush does pretty well PR-wise in Europe considering zero effort spent.

Earlier this year, George Osborne, a Conservative member of Parliament, took a straw poll of some legislators from his party. The subject was President Bush. The results were not pretty. They can all just take a long hike off a short pier.
To: HungarianGypsy
Funny, I was thinking the same thing. The entire world laughed at Clinton. I remember the picture of the float in a German parade with Clinton grabbing the boobs of the Statue of Liberty. There were also frequent riots and protests when he went over there, you could read it in the european press but never here in the US.

Gosh, I guess we ought to abandon our Revolution and founding and become Eurosocialist because they are all so much smarter than we are. Course, we never had a Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin or even a Franco or Salazar. Those were obviously just minor aberrations as is our greater economic sense and long history of not having dictators and greater military strength. If we can only be like socialist Europe we'll all be so much better off.

And we should care what a bunch of Eurotrash thinks because? Because if they liked our President, it would be a sure sign that he was selling us out to them, and was committing treason in some manner unknown.

is this related to the "German Military Allows Homosexuals to Sleep Together" thread?
To: Tailgunner Joe
Euroweenies, et. al.'s basic dilemma is that they're not the US and never will be. Worse, they're well aware of this. So their desire to control the US is paramount. If they could do that, our economic power would be 'nuanced' to their benefit, as would whatever else we attempted in this lifetime, and, of course, the use of US military. In the best of all worlds, Euroweenies (smarter, more civilized, nicer in every way), would tell the US (dumber, brash, vulgar, and alas, richer and more powerful), what to think and do. Envy, anger, a sense of real inferiority they can't or won't deal with, ingrained economic, societal sloth because of socialism...are at the center of Europe's hatred of Bush. If any republican or even a RAT were president and acted in the US's national interests they'd hate him, too. Let Kerry win in Nov., and like a whipped dog, the US will be put on a UN leash and thrown scraps from the table. That's what Europe and most of the world wants, and the sad thing is 'be careful what you wish for' applies in spades.

Uh, they think they should be allowed to vote in our elections. A UN resolution to that effect would be rammed through as soon as they could figure out a way to do it.
