[history]
Washington, DC, May. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. authorities have extensively considered the possibility -- or likelihood -- that Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities, perhaps this year.
U.S. analysts and government sources said the Bush administration has discussed the prospect of an Israeli air strike in terms of the diplomatic, military and security implications for the United States, particularly its military presence in Iraq and the Persian Gulf region, the Middle East Newsline reported Friday.

Even if Israel hits the nuke plant, Iran has chemical and biological weapons, which they can load on their missiles.
I think the Israelis need to consider this matter very carefully, because Iran is likely to hit back if attacked.
Wasn't there just a successful test of Israel's ballistic missile defense system? Yesterday or the day before? And now this story is leaked. Interesting timing.

F-15's with FAST tanks can likely make the trip no problem ... and they can carry drop tanks in addition ... it won't take that much ordnance to take out the reactor ... 1,000lb or 2,000lb bombs I'd guess ... I think they used 1,000lb GBU on Osirak ... I'd have to check the r/t distance versus the F-15I combat radius ... further, cruise with terrain mapping or better yet, GPS coordination are very accurate ... some of the terrain mappers go off course, but most go right to their target ...
bottom line, very do-able strike possibility ... the question is, when is the reactor fueled? ... if it is already fueled, the political fallout will be worse than the radioactive fallout ... that's why they did Osirak before fueling ...

yep ... I think this battle takes place in the Tribulation Period ... and a lot of the world's governments will not be the same during that period ... it was disturbing that the USA conducted mock war games against another team simulating Israel ... Zechariah 12 indicates the last battle before the quote-unquote Second Coming is all nations coming against Israel ...
as crazy as that sounds, it seems very few nations support Israel ... I support their right to exist ... but they have many enemies arrayed against them ... regardless of the prophecies, I don't relish that kind of war in the Middle East ... it does not bode well for anyone ...

well, time will tell my friend ... look for a peace deal that allows Israel to build their Third Temple on Temple Mount ... I don't know what that means about the DOR, but there will be a Third Temple built ...
I guess we'll just have to wait and see ... the peace deal, btw, is a double-cross against Israel ... Kofi Annan, if he's still around then, would probably cheer this false deal ...
but, when? ... I don't know ...

But .. consider that the President and Sharon have already discussed the fact that the USA may need to condemn an attack.

I still like the idea I read here sometime last year.
You drop several titanium GPS guided "needle spears" down into the reactor core. They come in virtually undetectable and penetrate deep down into the core, causing a meltdown. Of course the whole mess then has to be cemented over, like Chernobyl, so the spears can never be discovered.

Carbonated Bombs first used by Iraqis to destroy Bushehr Nuke facilities in the first Persian Gulf War in the 80's.
The effect were as same as what your idea is here.

Tungsten, not titanium. Ti is very light, and has a low terminal velocity, among other reasons. Depleted uranium alloyed with tungsten cased in a ceramic would work best.

Maybe if we asked nice, the Israelis would bomb that stupid rock in Mecca, too. It doesn't hurt to ask.
