I've read that Gen Pershing, sent to the Phillipines to put down a rebellion by Muslims, buried the dead Muslims wrapped in pigskins which quickly put an end to the rebellion. There's even a
snopes page about it, which does not declare the anecdote an urban legend.
Interesting read on the snopes page - i think we need to flush this one out on talk radio - I've been seeing this story over and over the last month. Would like to know what the Muslim take on this might be.
The British used it also during the Sepoy Mutiny.
