I have been following this thread all day. Thanks to all of you for your comments!
Here is something no one has addressed. If the positions and nudity of those prisoners was humiliating (which I agree with) then WHY did CBS PARTICIPATE in their humiliation by making sure that every person in the Arab world knew what had happened? If those pictures hadn't been aired, the Army would still have been investigating and court martialing people, and perhaps some of the people that were treated this way wouldn't have been embarassed in front of their whole darn country!!!!

Well, according to the Beast, the pictures were described in full detail in writing, (in the report that she had before the Pentagon did) so that the release of the pictures really wasn't a pertinent part of the discussion. (Thus showing her complicity)

one word: RATINGS! May is sweeps, and getting those advertising dollars is important to paying Dan Rather's salary.
Secondly, it was released to be inflamatory, and hostile to the current administration. Nothing connects to ratings and talking about this like inflamatory images.

These people have no moral clarity. On the one hand they will argue that the likes of Mapplethorpe should be funded by the US taxpayers and on the other fall to their knees gasping over the humiliation and loss of credibility in the Arab world. They make me sick and anyone with a simple familiarity with logic could not follow their reasoning without concluding that they are simply propagandists.
