If Rumsfeld resigns, it will just be more blood in the water for the dems and the media to go after Bush.If Bush either asks for or lets Rumsfeld resign, it will greatly hurt the rest of this Administration and hurt his chances at a second term IMO.

If he doesn't resign, the President should fire him. We know you weren't happy with him yesterday. Should he keep his job?

Maybe Rummy should have responded, "In the fine political tradition established by the previous administration, including the president of that administration himself, I've come to believe one should never resign under any circumstances, regardless of how guilty he may be shown to be."
