I think you just proved why President Bush did apologize.
WE ARE NOT THEM.
Americans are better than that and we recognize Just actions versus Unjust actions.
The abuse the Iraqi prisoners received not only was not the American way it caused more grief for the 99.99% majority of good decent soldiers fighting in Iraq.
Your justification that we shouldn't apologize because they didn't just doesn't cut it for me. We are Americans and we should be role models for the rest of the world.

WE ARE NOT THEM.Obviously. There's something wrong with a culture that's applauds the vicious murder of 3,000 innocents, and then gets all bent out of shape because some Baathist thug was forced to wear panties.
The fact that Americans didn't take to the streets ululating with joy about this abuse is evidence enough we're not like them. Screw the apologies -- I've been waiting for 2.5 years for their damn apology.
