It reminds me of the way they did Trent Lott. Each successive apology was greeted by demands for more concessions. Bush has already done the equivalent of going on BET, the arab nets. Now an apology for something some army punks did that EMBARRASSED somebody? Expect the calls for Rumsfeld to resign to immediately get louder. And if he cans Rummy they'll go for W himself. Or at least demand to choose the next SecDef themselves. No, I know they'll filibuster the SecDef the way they are the judicial nominees. Never, ever, ever apologize for doing your job. NEVER! I thought he understood this during the china shoot-down incident, the 9-11 hearings. To hear he broke that now... it sucks, it really does.

A lot of people will remember the Trent Lott saga. And more people will recognize the hysterical unreasonableness of the dems for what it is - a utter failure to accept the they are not in power.

Perhaps one of the unintended consequences of the Trent Lott drumming-out will be that they cannot play that hand again.
