I like Hugh also, but he's also terrible at calling elections. Election Eve 2000, he was part of a panel discussion on KCET (the L.A. PBS station) and predicted that Bush would win California. Then when Bush got trounced, he tried to blame it on the early Florida call by the networks which supposedly led Bush supporters to stay home because "it was all over for Bush once he lost Florida." Bush didn't lose by over 1 million votes in CA because of an early FL call. He probably lost New Mexico, Iowa, and possibly Oregon & some others because of it, but not CA.

Can anybody really call elections? The squishy, undecided middle is a fickle, unpredictable bunch. Honestly I think they go to the voting booth and start chanting "eeny, meeny, miney, mo..."
