Well, according to the military, it is the fault of this soldier's leadership that she participated in this. Yes, she made a very bad choice and did something very stupid. But if a soldier is a screw-up, she is a screw-up because her leadership let her down.

She's a screw-up because she's an ignorant, attention-seeking bint with a mean streak.

AND she doesn't have any more common sense than a door-knob.

The soldier is a private. She knows only what she is taught and directed to do. She has zero capacity to tell others what to do.

The Army didn't sign her up to think. They arranged for her to be under the guidance and direction of officers that were commisioned to do that. It is their direction she's under and it's their intent she has to work with.

Also other released prisoners have said, "these guys were being bad". Given their behavior and the directives of her superiors, it's easy to see why she went along.
