5 Empty Suitcases Found In NYC In 5 Different Locations/Also Missing Fuel Tanker Truck
FOX NEWS | 5-2-04 | my favorite headache

Posted on 05/02/2004 10:37:29 AM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I have waited and looked around and did not see this posted. NYPD and the FBI have found 5 empty identical suitcases in 5 different locations around NYC. Subway station, Penn Station, 2 government buildings and a sidewalk.

Also missing is a huge fuel tanker truck out of New Jersey that has vanished and was full.

This story was mentioned in the last hour...anyone catch it? The Fed's are thinking this might be a test run for terrorists to see what the response time would be to suitcases being left and found in a location ala Spain attacks. They also fear the gas tanker might be used to ram a building with explosives and level it.

tanker has been described as "exactly the kind of vehicle that could be loaded with explosives, or chemical or biological weapons, and turned into a nightmare of a weapon."

Unlike, say, a Ryder truck?

While there is certainly reason to be concerned, I would be more willing to bet that the contents of the missing tanker truck have been sold at below-wholesale prices to select gasoline dealerships.

>5 Empty Suitcases Found In NYC In 5 Different Locations

Last night I wondered
about this "empty" business . . .
Terrorists might use

stuff that we can't see.
If the bags appear "empty"
handlers might get lax.

Biochemical
weapons
might not even be
suspected like this . . .

For all we know there were 25 suitcases placed, and nobody noticed the other 20 for quite a long time, and the terrorists went back and retrieved them. Those five locations we discovered have been "scratched".

That was a decent hanging curve. At least you fouled it off.

I like the way you think...sometimes it is the opposite scenario we should be evaluating....

Regardless...NYC will be the "happening place" this summer...whether the terrorists are Al Qaida or Democrat operatives...both have set their sights on NYC to create chaos and mayham...

I think NYC better be on their toes...it will be a long summer.

Test run?

Or a diversion.

"Yes. The bottles were placed in the Philly subways 2 consecutive nights in a row last summer. They were written off as a "hoax"." (jerseygirl)

I found a link to the story, it was bothering me that I mentioned it with out a link. Here is a google search that puts the article as the first hit in the search and will open the article:

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=water+bottles+found+in+subway

This is the website link, but it wants a login I think:

Ruled a hoax, huh. I hope they re-evaluate that decision in light of yesterdays NYC suitcase incident. I guess we'll see. What's going on with the missing gas tanker here in Jersey? I was hoping the authorities would make a public plea to the thief to turn in the truck, no questions asked in an effort to recover this thing. If it's Jihadis they won't respond, but if it is a garden variety truck thief he might respond because he has one very hot truck parked in a wharehouse that he could not get rid of at this point. Just a thought, I hope this truck is recovered soon!

I love when people panic with little information. This tanker trailer has been missing for over two weeks now. No truck, just an older trailer that they said on the news here, lacks the authentication stickers to get it filled. Plus, it was empty, and unused for some time. Check the scrap yards guys, it was probably aluminum, and at 50 cents a pound, and a weight of over 9000#, I suspect a money motivated crime here.

They do have cams, they're looking for speeders and box blockers. Don't you have your priorities right?

Agree completely. This is going to be an expensive lesson for why we are at war.

Hitting the subway in NYC would be unreal. Those trains are crammed between 7 and 9 AM. If you hit the right spots, you can shut NYC down for at least a month. Penn Station, Madison Sqare Garden, Times Sqare Station, Wall Street Station, Columbus Circle.

I wouldn't fill that tanker truck full. Better to have it about half-full, leaving some room for the right explosive atmosphere in the tank. I'd hit a power distribution site in NY to ensure that there was no power with which to do rescue efforts.

Add two or three dirty bombs or chemical weapons, and you'd have the city trying to head underground to get away from the radiation, but having nowhere to go, and no way to see.

I think they are capable of this.

RE:Greyhound Rider In Hot Water
(Clinton, OK ) -- Police in Clinton are still not sure what to make of today's events surrounding a passenger on a Greyhound Bus and perhaps a bomb or two. According to Clinton Police Lieutenant Steve Moss, the Elk City police department called to say a passenger had left behind a small device at the Elk City bus station that might be a bomb. The Clinton police department went to the local bus station and made contact with the man and discovered a similar device in his backpack. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad detonated the package which in turn caused a second small explosion. Moss says they're not sure why that happened but the man has been returned to Elk City for questioning. Moss says the Federal Bureau of Investigation and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are handling the case.

Possible bomb found in Clinton, Oklahoma

April 24, 2004 Clinton emergency services officials were investigating a report of a possible homemade bomb placed near an Alliant Energy substation Friday night, according to Clinton Fire Department officials.
The incident started when fire officials were called to the substation on the 100 block of North Second Street at about 8:30 p.m. on a report of discarded chemicals. Police received a report that the discarded items could be a homemade bomb.

At that point, traffic was blocked off in the North Second Street area, and the state fire marshal's office was called to the scene.
An official from the state fire marshal reportedly arrived at the substation at around 11:15 p.m. Friday.
Fire officials said more information would be released after the state fire marshal investigated the incident.

It's equally probable that this and a lot of other things are "test runs" by the FBI, NYPD, and others, IMO....

"...the problem is that they have a tendency to cluster together in one spot (which is what I have observed when I have walked thru Grand Central) and you don't really see them walking around."

Yes, and the LEOs dressed up as loitering winos, bag ladies, and pushers on the move are the ones who will save the day when the "TedKennedy" hits the fan -- either by preventing or responding to a tango attack. The uniformed guys are there for backup and, gulp, as decoys of sorts.

And let's not forget the ubiquitous visible and hidden cameras and sensors and the paranoid citizenry.

Take your best shots, ye rapers of camels. And while you're at it, don't rule out being unexpectedly snuffed out or crippled by some observant and unsqueamish middle-aged guy sans gun and badge. That third rail is a real b!tch at the end of your assisted swan dive.......

Certainly, keeping in mind that the Lord answers prayers "after all we can do".....
