I agree. People who want freedom should fight for it themselves. I admire President Bush, but I think he was too optimistic about Arab modernity.

This war is not about "freedom" for the Iraqi people. I understand Pres. Bush has to "sell it" this way, but the fact is this is about OUR national security and REMOVING sources of support for terrorists. This is simply too harsh for most of the public to hear, and the admin has softened it by emphasizing removing Saddam, downplaying the AQ connection, playing up the WMD connection. But the bottom line is that if there is "freedom" for the Iraqis, it will be a by-product of cleaning out the terrorists there, which is really what is going on.

Agree with you--He who would be free must strike the first blow. They must want to be free. Til then, all we can give them is a new tyrant who isn't a nut like Saddam. Maybe these people need a King with a constitution rather than a two party democracy. Something that will not be full democracy but not State terrorism like the last Government.
Till then we are just wasting lives. Cut off Saddams head and declare victory and come home. If they kill each other or are invaded by Iran--so what? Coundn't happen to a nicer country.
