Virus strikes nursing home
Residents in Stockton facility experience flulike symptoms

STOCKTON -- Most of the residents of a local retirement home fell ill this week after a flulike virus struck.

Three-quarters of the 78 residents at Camlu Retirement Community have gotten sick, and 19 have been taken to the hospital, the Stockton Fire Department reported.

"People get very sick, but they are usually sick for a short time, one to three days," said Dr. Karen Furst, health officer for San Joaquin County Public Health Services. "We get outbreaks every single year."
