Will the unions be pushing for Specter? I think this is a closed primary. Most union supporters are Dems and - unless they changed party affiliation specifically for this primary - they won't be able to vote for Arlen.

No. Because their members are registered Dems and cannot participate. Additionally, there is a contested race on the D side for AG to discourage people re-registering (as if Specter inspires anyone to do that).

Most union voters register Dem. I've heard very little about cross-over voters. I don't think Arlen realized how much trouble he was in until too late.
