I think the CNN story was described as saying that the bomb would have caused a chemical "cloud." Blow up that much explosives and you're going to get a cloud for sure. Last week there was all the speculation about VX gas. Later that seemed to get woven into some stories as "fact." I'm not an NBC expert, so I can't really speculate any further.
