"Hiroshima and Nagasaki were shots across the Japanese bow, to break their will to fight, saving American lives in the process. We saved many more Japanese citizens through those actions than most realize. We would have had to kill half that nation in a full scale invasion, with tens of thousand dead Americans. Your perspective is really warped."

The reason Japan is a successful democracy is that we totally broke them down. They had no choice--our way or death. Until we do that in Iraq, there will never be a successful democracy. You couldn't be more wrong.

"To those who say "He aint got my vote" I ask do you Really want John Fing Kerry ?"

Bush is acting like John Fing Kerry would. What the hell's the difference?

Why should anyone vote for Bush now?

Who says George W. Bush has done "nothing" for conservatives?

LOL.

You prove my point.

A "candidate" who has some "policy", to let the enemy kill US soldiers, and his generals in Iraq, Rumsfeld, Powell, Rice, Cheney, Blair, Iraqis on the ground, coalition generals, and other soldiers, are all in on a plan to lose the war?

Why not send some of your ideas to the President and the coalition generals, I'm sure they haven't thought of them yet.

No matter what, and no matter what policy is implemented, some will support it regardless, as long as *THEIR* candidate is for it!

I mean the President could order that all the troops now wear glow painted reflective safety vests, and many of these people would say, well you know, it'll reduce friendly fire incidents. Go Bush!

You prove my point.

Yes, I did.

No...next time it will be more. 3000 wasn't enough to make mainstream America come to their senses.

You're right. I suspect it'll take about 10,000 or more.

Our leaders promised overwhelming force after the initial mutilations.

Yes they did. Repeatedly.

let's see what happens when these "patrols" start taking place.

I wouldn't want to be on any of those patrols, would you? This amounts to sacrificing lives to try to buy goodwill which will never come. Very sad. We aim to appease.

The Military did decide this. Bush blessed it. The military determined that they could not guarantee a 'clean' kill, and that civilians would likely die in the assault, providing a propaganda win for the insurgents if any of them were to survive.

Did the Military guarantee a clean kill with no civialian casualties before the war started? What's changed?

"...that's not to say their aren't some risks here, let's see what happens when these 'patrols' start taking place."

I agree with you, but only to the extent we don't hold off on hitting the mosques and shrines that are being used by the Islamists to stock arms and munitions and to launch attacks against us. If we can hit the "holy places," then I agree with not going in as a fullscale offensive.

Wonder what changed their minds?

I think the islamikazis can do pretty much whatever they want to for now. Bush is afraid that world opinion will drive his election into full defeat mode, if we take action.

If the terrorists and resistors do enough damage before the election, they will defeat Bush's reelection. If we back down, they win the propaganda war, "America can't handle our burning their people alive, and are cowards" or if we crush them "America has slaughtered thousands of innocents in Iraq, and is worse than saadam!"

Either way wouldn't be fully true, but for the 1.2 billion muzzies worldwide, and the 120 MILLION of them we KNOW are the radicalized types... it will be enough to drive jihad for 40 years.

Bush should burn fallujah alive. WE have given them WEEKS to let the women and children leave. And world opinion will be damning no matter WHAT we do. The sitting duck "election" strategy... is no strategy at all.

Commander in cheif, as a title, did not make LBJ right in his approach to vietnam. Bush needs to get with it in Iraq, or admit WE do not have the stones to wipe out the vermin and try to get out with our men intact.

What a waste.
I actually believed him, when he said the for us or against us stuff. Fallujah is clearly against us. Why is it still standing?

You're one of those people I was referring to who doesn't know what he's talking about.

But keep it up...........you're providing entertainment for a lot of people.

btw, did you listen to the news this morning, Joe?? President Bush is leaving the decisions up to the military.

Drudge is a drama queen, and you fell for it.

And when he said we'd go into Fallujah with overwelming force, I believed him. This is all too much. Thank God I don't have family in this one. I wouldn't be able to contain my anger at this BS that is going to result in more Amercian deaths.

Some of these folks are quite amusing, aren't they?

Fortunately they have NOTHING to do with any of the decisions made.

Thank the Lord, the adults are in charge. Not the playground bullies, and class misfits who hang around their computers and say things that make them feel like big shots.

I'm sure the same type hang out at the DU......

The BS is coming from YOU, Joe.

And you make those of us who DO have family in this one (or just home) FURIOUS at your morale deflating hatred for their Commander in Chief and their mission.

Why don't you THINK before you type for a change??

Sensory deprived void? Is that the RINO "phrase of the week"?

Imagine for a sec. an enemy of 2000 in an open field, vs. embedded in city buildings. Who, in their right mind, would (not) attack, but send in 'patrols' among the 2000 troops to 'police' their behavior.

Worse, add into the mix the enemy's countrymen; to 'fight' along side them. Not only do our guys have to worry about bullets from the front, but bullets from the rear.

Now, ADD to this nightmare, the REAL situation: 2000 enemies embedded in buildings, behiand walls, underground, vs. in that open field.

This is a castastrophie; designed by Pentagon and State Dep't wanna-be field generals. And Bush is stupid enough to follow them and put our guys in harm's way.
