The better question is: "Is Gun Control Worth Losing Your Job Over?"
That should be what the voters in Illinois say to the General Assembly.

"If it can save the life of Just One Child..."
For every "child" gun control "may" save, there will be many more innocent lives that WILL be saved by armed citizens. Notice I say armed "citizens." That implies responsible law abiding persons. Besides, as the bumper sticker says:
An armed person is a citizen
An unarmed person is a subject
