The 9mm, or your Sig 357 still has yet to be proven as good a "one shot stop" round in ball ammo as the .45 ACP. All the other fancy "hollow points" and "rapid expansion" rounds are just neat, but sometimes they don't work or fail to feed properly. I just felt your characterization of .357 as having no more stopping power than 9mm was not necessarily on the mark.
Personally, I agree with you about .45 being the best. That's why my carry gun for many years has been a Glock model 30, with 10 rounds of .45

I have NO beef with the .357 mag, and the 9mm is OK plus it's a fun round to plink with. I have a SW revolver that I keep around for the house and field. It's a great performer when the bullets work the way they should and your shot placement is decent.
I have great faith in the .45ACP, because even if the bullet doesn't expand properly and your shot placement is less that great, the bad guy will still get smacked REAL hard.
I look at the difference as being the jab vs the haymaker.
As for the .40, well I don't know enough about it first hand to make a statement, but it sounds good. Maybe when I win the lottery.
