I don't care if he lost all his limbs it does not automaticly make him qualified to be president. And I don't think it is accurate to say he was attacked on the issue. This is being sugar coated. Thats just like McCain thinks he had a special right to be President because of his war history. Lots of people served and came home without thinking they had rights above everyone else.

" it was the Navy's decision to request that he be reassigned. "

"PULLEEEZZZZE!!! This is the Admiral! Please get this guy out of here, get him away from me, I can't stand to see his long face!!"

"Give him whatever he wants, just PULLEEZZZE, get him out of here!"

Bronze star "non V device in the 101st airborne was automatically issued just for being there....I have one..I know...probably Navy policy also...doesn't mean he was a hero...to get a purple heart, you had to receive medical treatment...was probably crying loudly while they pulled the splinters from his then non botoxed forehead he got while diving under something!!!

this guy is such a schmuck....and he is the best the dems have to offer??? if only the pubbies would get a spine and some testosterone "holders", this would be so easy.

Performance Evaluations, documents pertaining to HIS REQUEST to rotate early...and what about those mission reports where the heroics took place and the wounded or dead VC was shot by the intrepid warrior from Baahston?

Exactly. The Purple Heart argument is a red herring; the documents you list will tell us alot about J.F'n K.

GOP should say this only bring more question to Be answered. Who signed for them? Who put in for them? Why was all Purple Hearts signed for same day? Did he have treatment for wounds. Where and long was he off duty? Also why does his wife Mrs. Heinz release her tax returns? We want to see it all? What is he hiding????

Kerry is a spineless wimp. He is a traitor to his own fellow soldiers. He has no opinions that he holds dear. He would bring misery on this country like we've never seen.

""Shrapnel in left arm above elbow. Shrapnel removed and appl bacitracin dressing. Ret to Duty."

My 8 year old split his lip due to the cold weather. I put soe bacitracin on it and later that day he was playing ice hockey.

Kerry went home from Vietnam. What a wuss.

This is the wrong place to make hay...

You may have a good point...but it looks like he was trolling for an 'early out' all along...

November 17, 1968:
Kerry arrives in Vietnam, where he is given command of Swift boat No. 44, operating in the Mekong Delta.

December 2, 1968:
Kerry gets his first taste of intense combat, and is wounded in the arm. He is awarded a Purple Heart.

January, 1969:
Kerry takes command of a new Swift boat, completing 18 missions over 48 days, almost all in the Mekong Delta area.

February 20, 1969:
Kerry is wounded again, taking shrapnel in the left thigh, after a gunboat battle. He is awarded a second Purple Heart.

February 28, 1969:
Kerry and his boat crew, coming under attack while patroling in the Mekong Delta, decide to counterattack. In the middle of the ensuing firefight, Kerry leaves his boat, pursues a Viet Cong fighter into a small hut, kills him, and retreives a rocket launcher. He is awarded a Silver Star.

March 13, 1969:
A mine detonates near Kerry's boat, wounding him in the right arm. He is awarded a third Purple Heart. He is also awarded a Bronze Star for pulling a crew member, who had fallen overboard, back on the boat amidst a firefight.

April, 1969:
According to Navy rules, sailors that have been wounded three times in combat are eligible to be transfered to the U.S. for noncombat duty. Kerry is transferred to desk duty in Brooklyn, NY.

Meanwhile, back in Washington...

November 1969:
Bush is flown to the White House by President Nixon for a date with daughter Tricia.
[shrewd operator?....]

Meanwhile, back in Brooklyn...

January 3, 1970:
Kerry requests that he be discharged early from the Navy so that he can run for Congress in Massachusetts' Third District. The request is granted, and Kerry begins his first political campaign.

February 1970:
Kerry drops his bid for the Democratic nomination and supports Robert F. Drinan. Drinan, a staunch opponent of the war, wins the race and goes on to serve in Congress for ten years.

June 1970:
Kerry joins Vietnam Veterans Against the War, and becomes one of the group's unofficial spokespeople.

April 23, 1971:
Kerry helps to organize a huge anti-war protest outside Congress, earning a place on president Richard Nixon's "enemies' list." He joins a group of Vietnam veterans who throw medals and campaign ribbons over a fence in front of the Capitol.

April 23, 1971:
Kerry testifies before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He tells lawmakers: "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

Agreed. My Dad flew in 3 wars - WW2 (P-47s & P-51s), Korea (B-26s) and Vietnam (Hueys). He hated war. There is only one picture of him taken in Vietnam - not like Kerry, who went back and re-enacted for the cameras. My Mom told me today that he had 3 Purple Hearts - she doesn't recall the details, but at 82 that is common. The only time he told me about any of his experiences was when we saw Patton & some P-47s flew by...at the Battle of the Bulge, I think. He leaned over and said, "That was me - I flew in the first missions after the weather broke". He was killed in a helicopter crash in Vietnam in '72.

He saw a lot of war, and spoke almost nothing about it. Kerry cannot shut up! Just guessing - but I'll bet my Dad never put himself in for a medal for a wound requiring "bacitracin"!
