It sounds like Hovind may very well be in the clear on the IRS issues if he has properly followed procedures for churches and charitable organizations.

It's pretty clear that he hasn't. I don't think you get it. Hovind appears to be one of those "I'm exempt" nuts who doesn't pay income tax at all. Are you saying that no pastor or minister should have to pay taxes at all, even on their personal salaries?

Besides, how does this "I'm an exempt church (and so is anything whatsoever I earn, consume, produce or touch)" business Hovind is feeding the IRS go along with the "no one here but us scientists" line he's feeding the rubes?

First of all, even if your income tax payment is zero, you still pay taxes every time you buy something. All taxes, tariffs, fees and compliance costs are built into the price of any item or service. The only taxation 'opt-out' that ministers are allowed to claim is Social Security, which I personally would do instantly if I could.

Second of all, the only people who even approach a non-taxpaying status are those who actually receive money from the government, which is confiscated by force from We The People. These funds offset their tax bill hidden within consumption.

Third of all, you can change all this by supporting the fairtax. www.fairtax.org. All these hidden taxes are frontloaded into a National Retail Sales Tax, so that everyone is fully aware of the true tax rate. The best part is that the IRS is abolished.

The real issue behind it all is CONTROL. The money is residual. We are kept in line by the perpetual state of jeopardy in which the IRS holds us all.

By taxing consumption instead of success, this economy would EXPLODE.

If he's not paying taxes on his personal income, he should be tarred and feathered by the IRS and locked away for a long time. I just don't know if that's the case. They haven't charged him with anything yet. He had trouble with the IRS two years ago too.

I don't know if this is IRS harrassment or if Hovind is a crook. I have seen people misusing churches and charities and I've also seen government ruin people's lives for the sake of making some low level bureacrat's statistics look better. Both senarios are very plausible.
