Fighting around Fallujah a Marine sniper's 'dream'
LA Times via Omaha World-Herald ^ | April 17th, 2004 | Unknown @ LA TIMES

FALLUJAH, Iraq - Taking a short breather Friday, the 21-year-old Marine corporal explained what it was like to practice his lethal skill in the battle for this city.

"It's a sniper's dream," he said. "You can go anywhere, and there are so many ways to fire at the enemy without him knowing where you are."

The role of snipers has become a significant tactic for Marines in this "Sunni Triangle" city. Marine experts say Fallujah is among the most "target-rich" battlefields for snipers since the World War II battle for Stalingrad, during which German and Russian snipers dueled for months.

In negotiations aimed at ending the standoff in the city, the insurgents have demanded that the Marines pull back their snipers.

A shaky truce exists between the Marines who surround the city and the fighters within the circle.

But the cease-fire allows the Marines to carry out defensive operations within the city, which, among other things, they define as allowing fire on insurgents who display weapons, break the curfew or move their forces toward U.S. troops.

Theodore Roosevelt:

"The great body of our citizens shoot less as time goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power.

Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world...

The first step in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come is to teach men to shoot."

Mein Sheman es nich gut

Mein Ruski es bissle better

Mein Ukranian, even bissel better

However, language has never been a problem.

I have found, in my government-sponsored travels around the world, that when confronted by an enemy combatant, I can drastically improve their ability to understand me by pressing the large open of a Dr. Colt's Model 1911A1 hearing aid against their ear.

Perhaps it has something to do with the sound echoing up and down the barrel, but regardless, in situations such as that, they seem to have no difficulty understanding me.

My experience has been that indigenous compliance with my ever-so reasonable requests, delivered in soft, sweet, well-modulated and gently resonant tones has been excellent... or in the rare case of non-compliance, they never uttered a sound of complaint...

German countrymen that did "need to be killed

Seeing how millions of those Nazi peckerwoods were either animals that
simply learned to walk on two feet...or humanoid entities that devolved into
predatory animals with sadistic instinct...
only a veterinarian (sp?) "Hippocratic" oath would apply to them.

It is a shame we can't open one road into Falujah to allow more "targets" in.

"Apology accepted"

Thank you.

No nation that's existed any length of time is completely blameless of all wrongdoing.

That is right, Lady.
Please believe me... it is not very
funny to grow up with 6 Million corpes
in your common memory.
For you, it was "Stagecoach" with John Wayne,
for us, it was "Auschwitz"

And now, you may imagine why guys like
me don`t like guys like this Doctor who
praises Killers.

With all respect,
Hun

But these worthless jihadis in Iraq are fighting outside all rules of war - they've placed themselves beyond the pale of decent civilized men and should be stepped on like the cockroaches they are"

They are defending their country.

This is their right.

Good night,
Hun

"I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work."

What exactly does that mean? I would suspect the phrase "use the knife" means something much more specific than "make any use whatsoever of any implements that could be characterized as knives".

Also, the language "will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work". Who would those men be?

There are few things in life as amusing as being lectured by a German on the morality of soldiers at war.

They are defending their country. This is their right.

And we are defending ours. Thank you!

We did learn. Americans, unlike the EuroWhiners (there is an 'H' in there) learned you cannot appease evil; you cannot give quarter to the devil.

The last time we - the Americans and the Brits - let this happen millions were killed. Oh, and no coincidence the French rolled on that occasion too.

I also think we did too good of a job pacifying Germany. Now why don't you give us a chance to do the same in Iraq?

Agreed. Any women left are there to actively aid the insurgents as food, ammo and weapons porters, etc.

The Germans were "defending their country" in 1945. "This was their right."

Yeah, and so what? The German Nazi Hitler and the Iraqi Nazi/Baathist Saddam led their nations on destructive paths of genocide and mass murder, and in both cases, their nations needed correcting.

Today, our US Marines are providing the correction, with the surgical application of single rifle shots. I'd say that this is an improvement upon the way in which Dresden, Berlin and Hamburg were corrected.

No human beeing needs to be killed.

My father was a Royal Air Force pilot in World War II. He killed many Germans. This was a very admirable and necessary thing.

I am very proud of my father and his comrades. I am glad they killed so many wicked Nazis. They did their job so well that the warlike spirit of the German nation was crushed completely.

You, the tame and harmless grandson of the most vicious beasts the world has ever known, are proof of the Allied victory.

I want to see a similar thing happen in Iraq and throughout the Muslim world. There is no alternative. Either Western civilization or Islam must win decisively. We fight, or our grandchildren will live under Sharia.

There will be no peace until the American boot rests firmly on the throat of Islam, and all believers in jihad have been exterminated.
