Jirga failed to win support of two tribes, will meet again

WANA, April 14 (Online): The negotiation of tribal jirga with the Zelikhel tribal elders for handing over the foreign suspected militants and their local harbourers Tuesday remained abortive, as two tribes refused to accept the conditions of the jirga. The jirga will meet again today (Wednesday).

The tribal elders of Atmaankhel and Kakakhel refused to cooperate with the tribal jirga, maintaining each tribe must be made responsible for capturing of the wanted men hiding in the area under their control and their consequent handing over to the political administration.

They said they could not help other tribes for holding up the al-Qaeda and Taliban suspects and their local sympathizers.

Later, they staged a boycott and left the gathering in protest to the jirga demands.

Meanwhile, the political militia has sent its jawans to Azam Warsek from Wana. Before reaching the place, they entered the house of Wazir tribals, who warned them to quit their areas. The Militia jawans later left the area.

The Wazir tribals issued a future warning to the law enforcement agencies that if they ever tried to enter their houses forcibly, they would be left with no choice but to open fire on militia force against the action.

Mehsood tribe delegation off to Wana for arrest of wanted men

Political Administration has sent a fifty-member delegation to Wana to join hands with tribal jirga in their efforts for clamping down on wanted tribesmen who provided sanctuary to the foreign miscreants.

Assistant Political Agent Ladha Naeem Anwar Sadozai sent the delegation of Mehsood clans to Wana in order to continue the efforts for arresting the wanted tribesmen who have provided asylum to Al Qaeda and Taliban resurgents hiding in the mountainous regions of Wana.

This is the last ditch effort of the PA to send 50-member delegation of Mehsood tribes for the arrest of the foreign miscreants.

Talking to newsmen the delegation members said that Ahmed Zai a sub clan of Mehsood tribe is on the verge of destruction only because of five persons, wanted by the administration.

If Ahmed zai clan will handover these five wanted men then all dangers in Wana could be easily averted, they said.

They said that this is time of serious thinking and if people of Ahmed Zai tribe will not use their minds and seriously consider the situation some thing terrible could happen.

They themselves should take some action for the arrest of these five men otherwise government will have no other option left but to start ?Operation clean up?.

PA has already issued a notice of demolishing 2000 shops and petrol pump of Yargul Khel tribe in Rustam Ada Wana and if the tribal jirga will fail in its effort for the arrest of five wanted men then the notice will be implemented as well.

End.

as two tribes refused to accept the conditions of the jirga.

Call this a hunch, but I've got an idea about which tribal areas to check for those wanted guys.....
