That 5-7% so-called "swing vote" was more than likely not watching the press conference, or maybe they caught a couple of minutes while they were channel-surfing. "Swing voter" is another way of saying "undecided" or "independent", which is all just another way of saying, "indecisive" or "I can't make up my freakin' mind!" People in this category don't watch the news every day, only catch sound-bites and news briefs. They won't pay much attention until the last few weeks before the election, when the media start paying attention to them, and hold the "swing voter" up on some pedestal, waiting for the pearls of wisdom to issue forth from their lips, and they'll try to act smart, and try to act like they've got something profound to add to the debate.
