Yeah, I know...I re-read my post and...what can I say, other than it was late.

What I meant was, I'd rather see Jesus die on a cross for the redemption of mankind, but in the hands of Mel Gibson, than watch a bunch of men go to their certain deaths, albeit for a good cause, but according to the PC Disney crowd.

I knew there would be some revisionist history involved which would come off making those heroes look flawed, and I just don't care to pay money to see that.

Now if George Bush or Donald Rumsfeld wrote the screenplay and directed "The Alamo," then I'd be there!

"The Alamo" raked in a paltry $9 million in its opening weekend, coming in tied for a distant third behind Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" and "Hellboy," a comic book adaptation.

Interesting trifecta: Heaven, Hell, and Texas. In that order.

As an old stock American I do not want sugar coated grade school history lessons to tell the story of the conquering of America.

The Bible is full of flawed heroes--David, Solomon, St. Peter. The difference between Hollywood's flawed heroes and God's is the difference between a pimp cherishing the weakness of his whores and a loving Father exhulting in the return of His children. Heroes can have flaws. They just need to recognize their Commander in Chief. The movie left out the Alamo's commanders reference to "The Lord." Wonder why?

I just saw it and I liked it. Any movie that can get me misty a few times.... Except perhaps for a little poetic license here and there, what was wrong with it?
