Billy Bob Thornton was a member of the Ron Howard deal. He Stayed after Howard left. Ethan Hawke was also part of the Ron Howard deal.

Those figures exclude international box-office. Worldwide Titanic made $1.8 billion.
The Passion has a long way to go.

"Disney's "Hidalgo" also flopped this spring."
That was the one that starred U.N. posterboy Viggio Mortendumbass from the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy?

Why??????? it sucked and eventually sank....
The Passion will go past The Titanic as the story has been number one for over 2000 years and will be number one for the next 2000!

Titanic has been out seven years. When The Passion of the Christ has been out seven years, we'll check the numbers. Remember, with the R rating it has a fresh audience every year or two that was not able to see it previously.

There were SEVERAL survivors of the Alamo, present DURING the assault, with eyewitness accounts -
http://hotx.com/alamo/survivors.html Survived the Assault:
Susanna Dickinson, wife of Capt. Almeron Dickinson
Angelina Dickinson, their 15-month old daughter
Joe, Travis' slave
Gertrudis Navarro, 15, sister by adoption to James Bowie's wife, Ursula Bowie
Juana Navarro Alsbury, 28, sister of Gertrudis Navarro
Alijo Perez, 18-month-old son of Juana Alsbury by a previous marriage. (Became a San Antonio policeman and died in 1918.)
Ana Esparza, wife of Gregorio Esparza, and their four children:
Enrique
Francisco
Manuel
Maria de Jesus Castro
Trinidad Saucedo
Petra Gonzales
Brigido Guerrero, who had deserted from the Mexican Army about four years earlier. He talked his way out of being killed by claiming to be a POW.
Several other local civilians later claimed to have been in the fort, and may have been at one time or another, but there is no evidence either way. (A "Madam Candelaria" made a career of being interviewed about the battle late in the 19th Century. Enrique Esparza didn't see her in the fort.) One source has Trinidad Saucedo, a servant in the Veramendi house, leaving before the assault.
After the fighting, Mrs. Dickinson was sent to Gonzales with her baby, two dollars and a pony. Ben, the black man who accompanied her, is sometimes cited as a survivor of the Alamo, but this former seaman was actually a member of the Mexican army, serving as Santa Anna's personal cook. Whatever conditions were like in El Presidente's service, Ben was apparently perfectly willing to trade them for a hike into slave territory.
Joe, Travis' slave, caught up with them on the road. A year later he would escape from his subsequent owners and presumably ended up a free man.
The "writings of various Mexican officers" that you refer to is the infamous "La Pena" document, first "discovered" in the 1970's and later found to be a FAKE...
http://www.crimelibrary.com/criminal_mind/scams/lincoln_forgers/6.html?sect=27 It was this upon this FORGERY, the "La Pena" document, that the movie bases it's portrayal of Crockett as surrendering...

There is no way The Passion is ever going to match the Titanic in europe. Europe prides itself on being Post-Christian. They wouldn't understand the movie.
Where did you find the $1.8 billion? I thought I saw the total as $1.2 billion. Anyway, The Passion is an R rated movie.

I have always thought that a movie should be made about Sam Houston and/or the Texas revolution as a whole rather than just the Alamo.
To: kittymyrib
That assumes it will be re-released annualy, and for an extended period. That is possible, but unlikely.
Future releases are likely to be somewhat limited and short in nature. This film also has a disadvantage in that it is not of particular interest in much of the world. In non-Christian countries they may see it once, but they are unlikely to have the repeat business necessary to pass Titanic.

I'm going to put this to bed once and for all regarding the "La Pena Document" - the forgery on which many liberals have based their view of the Alamo, John Lee Hancock's book included. Read it and weep...

ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S MOST NOTORIOUS FORGERS |
 |
|
|

Throughout the better part of the 20th century, native Nebraskan John Laflin, also known as John Laffite, caused literary havoc with his countless forgeries. One of his most infamous works included a document allegedly written by Jose Enrique de la Pena entitled Personal Narrative with Santa Anna in Texas, which was believed to have been a rare account of the battle of the Alamo. However, he was also known to have forged a great many documents purportedly written by Lincoln. Although his counterfeit Lincoln documents were produced in abundance, the writing style of the president was by no means skillfully imitated. In fact, most experts considered Laflin's reproductions at best amateurish. Yet, it did not hamper his ability to sell his creations, which he did at great profit. According to Hamilton, Laflin's Lincoln forgeries were, "poor imitationsand the text is diffuse, rambling and incoherent." The writing style he employed was also incongruous with that of the ex-president. Moreover, it didn't help that several of the counterfeit documents produced by Laflin and passed off as "originals" were written in German, a language unfamiliar to Lincoln.

John Laflin forgery |
In spite of his apparent ineptness, Laflin forged on. In addition to his Lincoln and de la Pena fabrications, he also produced numerous falsified documents and signatures of other great personalities including, early pioneer David Crockett and ex-president Andrew Jackson, to name a few. It is unclear whether Laflin served any prison time for his reproductions, but if so it did not prevent him from continuing with his illegal escapades until he died in 1970. Laflin was not the last of the Lincoln forgers. In fact, he was one of a countless line of criminals that would contribute to Lincoln's reputation as the most forged man in history. There remains in libraries, historical archives and private collections an endless stream of counterfeit Lincoln documents, letters and signatures still yet undetected as fakes. Furthermore, as time passes, there will be an accumulation of many more such reproductions. As P.T. Barnum once said, "there's a sucker born every minute" and as long as there is a market for historical documents, regardless of whether they are forged there will be a fraudster waiting to take advantage of the opportunity of selling it to them. |

Titanic also was #1 in the US for 15 consecutive weeks, and stayed in the top 10 for 25 weeks.
That is the power of 12-15 year old girls.

"The Alamo," revolving around the ill-fated defense of the Texas fort, had been viewed as a contender for the top spot. Budgeted at about $100 million, its failure comes at a bad time for Disney, whose travails include an unsolicited offer by Comcast Corp, criticism of its CEO, Michael Eisner, and executive upheaval at its struggling ABC network.Die, Disney, die!

Remember, no actual Texian participants actually survived the encounter, so the best sources would be the writings of the various Mexican officers and soldiers who did.Should read:

This just goes to show ya folks, education and "success" in the academic and corporate worlds cannot produce common sense!
Classic example:
"We're disappointed, mostly because we think we made a really good film," said Chuck Viane, Disney's head of distribution. "I'm shocked, quite honestly, at the number. If I could only figure out what went wrong, you'd never let it happen again. The movie deserved better than it did."
What a weenie Viane is! I've highlighted the operative words.
Hey Chuck, dingbat, buffoon!!! Yeah, you! Don't ever plan on figuring out "what went wrong", you're just too stupid and devoid of common sense! That's a fact!

"Maybe Disney can regain it's losses with more "Sodomite Days" at it's theme parks." Indeed! And then morons like Chuck there, say they "can't figure it out!"
Tough one, eh! Perhaps, just maybe, I don't want to take my 3 and 5 year olds to a park with men in drag wandering all over the place being so lewd that if I did the same in public streets at normal times of day I might be arrested, then have to answer and explain why Pluto was being eyed by some guy looking like a freak in a dress.
Helloooo Chuck! "Anyone home McFly?" Was that one of your movies!
These guys like Chuck must have such a high self image that they think they are mini-gods!
Anyone who thinks that Hollywood's "putting off of conservative America" hasn't hurt them, just ask Chuckie here out to lunch and clue the man in!
Warning: You may have to buy this time around...
