First sentence of this post: "Ever since the 9/11 tragedy, it has become clear that the Left is consumed by an overriding and ferocious hatred of the Republican President."

Lost me right there. The left was consumed by hatred of Bush during the election!!! Remember Florida?

See my post above. The Left is a movement based on the aquisition of power above all else; concentrated in solidly LEFTIST hands. When you get right down to it, the President really is a centrist Republican. In theory at least, the left should, if not happy with all his policies, be able to admit that what he proposes appeals to a large part of America (sadly). They SHOULD, in theory, be able to at least get along with him without the acrimony and deadcatting.

That is not their way here, however. They do not approve of ANY power or government action which THEIR OWN trusted elites do not directly control. Thus, their hatred of the President...the man who directly "robbed" them of the power they feel was theirs by right.

As an aside, the Left, while it makes much of the 2000 election, somehow forgets that the election results in 2002 more or less CONFIRMED those of 2000. Even the President's brother was reelected handily in the disputed state of Florida.
