"I think we win this one."

Experience teaches me that what seems like a win to us will be nullified - somehow - by the press. The press WILL NOT LET RICE WIN THIS, because that would be a victory for Bush, and the press has already canonized Richard Clarke.

You can be right on this, but there really are broader issues in play.

BCRW. BCRW.

The idea of a black conservative Republican woman is largely unknown in the black community. If there were BCRW groups, it becomes socially acceptable in that community.

The impact of that is ENORMOUS. Bush needs to peel off only about 5-10% of that vote and the Dems lose forever. They'd be up in that bloc 70-30 and it would still absolutely crush them. Numbers Are Everything.

I agree. The press will not let Dr. Rice win this and all we will hear tonight is that the administration REFUSES TO ALLOW THE DOCUMENT TO DECLASSIFIED. Her constant refrain that IT IS NOT A WARNING DOCUMENT will never make the soundbites.
