From the mood in Washington, this is a terrible day to be a Democrat. Clinton comes off as an ineffective fool, while Condi hands them their heads with clear, calm and concise answers.

Maybe. She may prefer to remain in an "advise and study" position. But if there's going to be a first black president, or a first woman president, I agree that Condi Rice would be a good candidate for both counts. (FWIW, I've always predicted that the first of each would be elected as a Republican.)
