Richard Hollbrooke on FNC thinks Condi backed up Clarke's testimony.

What inquisition was he watching?

That must be the party line. I clicked over to ABC and Clarke was saying "basically she corroborated what I have said".

Matthews is extremely enamoured of the title of this memo. He says it undercuts Rice's position they were mainly concerned about overseas. I do believe Matthews is AGAIN mischaracterizing the state of the record.

Matthews obviously didn't listen to her response. She made it clear that the content of the memo showed the title was misleading.

But it is typical for liberals to focus on titles without having a clue as to what the content REALLY says.

REPORT FROM CNN COVERAGE:

Wolfie runs the clip with Kerrey's comments about "swatting flies" and "what the Hell" comment to illustrate the "sharp exchanges between the Democrats and Dr. Rice". Correspondent Bob Franken actually does a pretty good job highlighting Condi's effective response to Kerrey.

Then they had Jay Rockefeller on. Predictably, he feels Condi painted a positive image of the administration and "glossed over" a lot. He thinks she didn't actually dispute any of the charges that Clarke made. Said that the Condi's testimony admits that the administration was "distracted" in the days before 9-11.

Rockefeller says President on vacation during the August 6 memo time and STAYED ON VACATION (horrors) THE ENTIRE MONTH which shows the President wasn't focused.

Rockefeller drones on about "corporate type of leadership whish passes important stuff to deputies"....blahblahblahblah

Blitzer doesn't challenge Rockie. Trent Lott HOPEFULLY (wolfs word) will be on later to get the Republican perspective. (God help us)

Let's play 'release the memo' then. First, let's see the Senate Intelligence committee memo where Rockefeller was openly trying to undermine the president- the ones Zell Miller refered to as if they weren't treason, they should be. Let's see the judiciary memos- all of them- including the NAACP memo and others where special interest groups wwere in collusion with Democrats to stall the judicial nomination process. Let's see all the Clinton admin memos on the USS Cole and how they didn't want that to interfere with the 'roadmap' for peace in palestine and so, with Clinton's Nobel Peace prize hopes.

On FNC, just now, that unctous Richard Holbrooke just said Condi coroberated DickClarke's testimony and that the ad hominen attacks on DickClarke ought to stop. GRRRRRR. Barf.... he would say that, he and DickCkarke are cut from the same cloth.

Condi's response on the USS Cole attack was probably true but she should have said that responding 4 months after an attack would not have provided the necessary linkage and that a strategic response was needed given over 8 years of attacks against our interests. Clinton should have responded to the USS Cole.

Yep. I was hoping she would reference the time frame. No telling how many shlubs out there don't know that it happened on clinton's watch, but will think this administration didn't respond.
