I've been following the thread the best I can while listening to the charade. Here is my take:

Condi is showing herself for the heavyweight policy expert that she is. She has been superb. Her intellect is obvious as is her grasp of the real world. She is absolutely stunning. She crushed Kerrey and now she is upstaging Broemer.

This will propel her front and center on the national stage. No longer will she be simply an advisor to the President.

McCarthy was not hunting witches, or tilting at windmills. He was after an absolutely real infiltration of the U.S. government by communists.

There -was- a witchhunt though - of anti-communists. McCarthy himself was a victim of it. What you're seeing now is a replay of what was done to McCarthy. You will now see the Dems try to distort what you're seeing to demonize Rice as much as they demonized McCarthy. We can't let that happen again.
