Bodine recall signals major Iraq shake-up

The United States's de facto governor of Baghdad, Barbara Bodine, was recalled home yesterday after only three weeks in office as the Bush administration moved to shake up its stuttering operation in Iraq.

She was Ambassador to Yemen in 2000 when the bombing of the USS Cole happened, and she and John O'Neill of the FBI really butted heads because he was trying to get a real investigation into the perps and she was more concerned with keeping things smooth and comfy with her contacts in Yemen. I recall reading somewhere that she raised hell in the State Dept. and forced the recall of John O'Neill so that she wouldn't have to deal with a real investigator.....
