If Ben-Veniste client Truman Arnold's business dealings with terror flight school owner Wally Hilliard come under scrutiny in the 9/11 probe, the slick Washington lawyer may find himself involved in a major national scandal from two different sides.

And former Governor Thomas Kean not only sits on the board of directors of a company which has business dealings with Khalid bin Mahfouz, he also heads the 9/11 Commission, which has a mandate to investigate Khalid's brother in law, Osama bin Laden.

Thanks--excellent links. Halperin is another name that keeps coming up. There's lots on him in Powell's book on the Institute for Policy Studies. Also, in 1969 J. Edgar Hoover suspected Halperin of being responsible for leaking sensitive information on Nixon's bombing of Cambodia to the press (". . .on May 8 1969, New York Times reporter William Beecher wrote that 'according to Nixon administration sources,' American B-52 bombers had raided several Vietcong and North Vietnamese supply dumps and base camps in Cambodia. . .Hoover could not identify the leaker. He could only conjecture as to the source, advising Kissinger. . .that national security aide Morton Halperin could have leaked this information, on the grounds that Halperin 'knew [William] Beecher and that he [Hoover] considered [Halperin] a part of the Harvard clique and, of course, of the Kennedy era'. . .After leaving the NSC staff, Halperin and another wiretapped NSC aide, Anthony Lake, joined the campaign staff of Democratic presidential aspirant Senator Edmund Muskie of Maine. . .Hoover. . .reported on proposed speeches and article's of the administration's critics, about Lake's intention 'to work with Senator Fulbright in opposing the war'. . .": Athan Theoharis and John Stuart Cox, The Boss, 466-8).

The left isn't conspiring as they don't care if their desires are out in the public realm. They know that the vast majority of Americans simply don't care so they don't have to be secret about what they're doing. Guys like Fedora and places like FR are really hurting the game plan.

That's a good idea you have on a 9/11 sidebar or something to that effect. If the President's enemies are going to try to turn this into another Watergate-type scandal, it will help counter that to collect in one place information exposing the partisan elements behind the attack on the President.

I have made the same observation. I believe a big reason for the connection is that socialists, mobsters, and lawyers all historically have something in common: labor unions. The history of this can be traced back to the emergence of communist-agitated labor violence in the 19th century. Moving towards the present, a key figure in forging such links was Sidney Hillman, one of FDR's major links with organized labor and organized crime:

There is no doubt that Hillman was one of the first labor leaders to use the goon as part of his enforcement machinery. In 1931 a garment manufacturer in Brooklyn named Guido Fererri got into a bitter quarrel with Hillman's Amalgamated and was threatened by one of its officials. A few days later Fererri was found shot to death on the street. At the time a notorious character named Louis Buckhalter, known as Lepke, was officiating as slugger and goon for a labor union and Lepke was suspected of this crime.

During the two-day reprieve, the New York newspapers ran wild with speculation as to what Lepke had to reveal. Chief among the rumors was that the mob boss could provide information on Sidney Hillman, the president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. With Hillman’s connections to organized labor, Dewey, it was believed, could link him to Lepke and parlay this information into a corruption scandal to hang over the Democrats in the November 1944 elections.").

Most of the stuff you've got is not new, though it may be new to some. The thing of interest is how they're all tied together in the 9-11 commission. This is a massive CYA effort so that the public doesn't call for the dismissal of the whole damned bunch of 'em responsible for counterterrorism. The DoJ appointments didn't help and caused lots of friction.
X42's administration pumped millions into the intelligence agencies and got zilch in return on the investment. Many of the good agents left because of cronyism and that left a void that could never be filled.
As I said, the exteminators are out of town though and they won't come in even if called.
Nobody gets brought to justice so the grift, abuse, and corruption continues. Everyone has something on everybody else.
