ABC is right, Free republic is the best place for important and breaking news. They should memo all employees mandating the use of Free Republic so that they can report the news better.

Nothing breaks faster than free republic. Remember the Columbia disaster - Freepers were watching and reporting on it first. Also the night of the RI nightclub fire - the FR report started with someone who said a nightclub was burning down the street.

And when I want to remember 9/11, I go to the 9/11 threads - as it happened. I haven't forgotten the way much of America has.

On 9/11 a freeper from PA posted and said there was a huge explosion in a field, before anyone else reported.

I think the alphabet networks should just keep an eye on FR for breaking news. Heck, for all we know, that's what they do.
