I'm with you 100% Now is a good time to show support. Thank you, my FRiend. ~~~ I hope more of our friends agree that tough times require us to stand firm.
To: F.J. Mitchell
Ah, thank you for that news. Be still my heart. I read one report, then another, and have yet to understand how we lost twelve of the best.
Hoping we throw everything we've got at them.

I am very glad, but very angry, that Sky News screwed up royally on this report.

I think we are still fighting wars all wrong. Almost like we are saying: "Better a dozen patriotic American troops die, than to offend one low life sonovabitching, murderous, Muslim Cleric!"

Press coverage of our response will ALWAYS portray it as weak, unfocused and innefective. Even if tomorrow a bleeding Sadr held a press conference where-in he said he never expected the strong, well co-ordinated and highly effective American response our press would ignore it or at best mistranslate it.

The only way to actually disengage from ME oil is to produce our own, and that isn't going to happen. As of today, OPEC produces only 38% of the world's oil. There are other buyers, not tainted with Islamic terrorism, to buy from.

Probably not. This is just a minor, but significant, effort by some Islamic leaders to establish themselves for future actions. If and when the Islamic world unites it's will, things will get quite interesting: They're way too divided now to do anything major (yet). The governments of the Islamic world may not be united on religious doctrine, they are united in the jihad part of it - supporting the murder of non-Muslims. They all contribute to such terror groups, harbor such groups, arm such groups, and incite their populations to join such groups.

Exactly.
Are we worried about what the rest of the world will think of us? They, including Muslims, already do and have for decades. They just kept it hidden in the past with their hands out for that foreign aid.

That doesn't really matter. Someone is going to buy that oil, and the price gotten for it will be the world commoditity price, modified for location and quality. It's a worldwide commodity market. You're missing the supply-and-demand fundamentals.

"According to Oliver North (whom I respect), these mullahs, Imams & Ayatollahs (a.k.a. "Muslim clerics") are neither religious or spiritual (unless you count demonic) leaders. They are Mafia-gangster style thugs with their own turf and private armies. Their headquarters are these religious shrines and mosques that they hide in [and] these guys shoot from behind women and children. ...Our snipers would do well to focus in on these so-called thug clerics and take them out systematically one after another. "I also heard Ollie's remarks, and I concur with you as well.
We can't continue to give murderers a license to kill with impunity simply because they hide behind mosques.
We ought to immediately and loudly proclaim a NEW policy whereby ANY combatant firing upon U.S. Forces shall be met with returned deadly force NO MATTER WHERE OR WHAT -- including mosques and shrines.
Enough is enough of our brave guys having to take pot-shots because of "political" ramifications. Either they're fighting a war OR they're not.
"This, in my opinion is like the Israelites crossing into the Promised Land... They had to kill men women and children because nobody was "innocent" in those cities, towns and areas... the term "kill them all and let God sort it out" is not entirely flippant nor glib. The innocent, who really are innocent, God will judge and take care of."
I hear ya...
God recognizes the heart of America. Unlike the rest of history's combatants America's armed forces so very rarely killed indiscriminately -- despite the opinion of one John Kerry.
To: yonif
There are other buyers, not tainted with Islamic terrorism, to buy from. I assume you mean other producers. We buy lots of oil from Venezuela, Mexico, etc. It wouldn't affect us at all if the ME would just quit producing oil all together? Think again. Oil is an international commodity. It we buy it from a different source (presumably by paying a premium to get them to sell to us instead of their other current buyers), the people who were buying from that source before we bought it out would just buy from the ME in larger quantities so it would be the same, effectively, as if we just sent the other buyers there. Whether we buy it directly or indirectly, we are still contributing to the ME oil situation. If we were to withdraw form the world market by producing our needs domestically, that would effectively cut their production and income; otherwise it makes no difference.

"I think we are still fighting wars all wrong. Almost like we are saying: 'Better a dozen patriotic American troops die, than to offend one low life sonovabitching, murderous, Muslim Cleric!'"Nail on the head Mitch.
Policy's GOT to change.
Either we fight to win and cover our OWN guys' backs, or get 'em the hell outta there.
The Korean/Vietnam War mentality of fighting with one hand behind our backs for the sake of politics isn't fair to the guys risking ALL on behalf of the rest of us.
To: F16Fighter
Absolutely. The only enemies that our troops cannot defeat, are the enemies within our own government handicapping them in both subtle and obvious ways.
Watching the left calling this battle front of the war on terror in Iraq another Vietnam and doing everything in thgeir power to make it one, for political gain, is a sickening spectacle to watch.
Listening to the rantings of the decrepit Bob Byrd today, attested to the fact that while the "good" do indeed die young- the "good for nothing" seem to be uneffected.

It's past time that we give them reason to begin worrying about what we think of them.
