It is highly unlikely that Specter's winning would mean the difference between having the senate in GOP hands or not. Most likely the GOP will net gain a few, how many depends on how good november is for us... the odds of the PA race being in the margin are miniscule, and in any case Toomey is more electable than Specter so if that is the concern you should vote Toomey.

Why then are Bush and Santorum endorsing Specter and not Toomey?

"Why then are Bush and Santorum endorsing Specter and not Toomey?"

Specter is the incumbent. and Santorum's colleague. Reason #1 #2 #3. ... The head guy supports the incumbent by default.

Imagine if roles were reversed: Toomey was running again and a pro-choice RINO were running against Toomey.
Who'd support such a flaky candidate like Specter then?

I also think there is an establishment bias against conservatives, if you notice Karl Rove does backflips for RINO and moderate Senates candidates but give conservatives the back of his hand. Dumb mistaken political calculation over principles.

"You can wonder about me all you want..."

Nothing personal but I *am* kinda busy y'know, so time for wondering's kinda scarce.

"...but I fail to see where I've displayed any logical inconsistency."

You do, huh.
How about using the words "truth" & "Spectre" in the same sentence for starts? {g}

"I want Toomey to win. If I didn't, I wouldn't have e-mailed him or inform conservatives at the local coffee shop about why they should vote for Toomey. I wouldn't have put the Toomey bumper sticker on my car. If incorrect contact information is being purposely distributed by a Specter mole, I thought the Toomey campaign might want to know."

Of course you're correct on all counts, mac.

"Being under-funded or understaffed is no reason for ignoring a hard-core conservative area."

I think it's probably the only reason to explain Toomey's behavior if ya think about it.

"I'll probably print some of the pro-life material available on Toomey's site for distribution at the polls."

Sounds like a great idea to me.
One thing's for sure if nothing else.
You're going to get a Toomey yard sign soon, right?

"I would hate to see Pat lose votes he could easily have won."

...so would a lot of us around here, mac.

"Hey, this is a great debate guys. I'm enjoying this, so let's not get personal..."

"You are all H20."

Hmmm..someone should practice what they preach.

"Because President Bush supports him."

That is the stupidest excuse I ever heard. You are such a tool.

I'm a tool? Really...

Why not "ratchet" things up a bit and call me something worse? I "saw" your previous posts on the subjects so it is no surprise you take the position you did. However, I have no intention of just "bolt"ing and letting you dictate for whom I will vote. I'd say, "screw" you, but since you are a fellow Republican and a Freeper, I won't be that mean.

(I think I have the puns out of my system for one night...well, maybe I'm a "nut" after all.)

Yea, really.
A tool for "Good," but a tool nonetheless.
Don'tchu dare stop tooling about now, y'hear? {g}

"Why not 'ratchet' things up a bit and call me something worse?"

HA!!
That's only *flatulence*, my friend.
Just hold thy nose & forge on. :o)

"I saw' your previous posts on the subjects so it is no surprise you take the position you did."

Look, in case you don't know it this "gal" & several others like 'em have been around here a very, long time; and, had their whining asses booted the hell outa here numerous times.
But coupled with their being *hopelessly* thick with no respect for another's property, like a bad penny they always come back.
Not to worry, you'll learn to *smell* this ilk regardless of what handle they use, OK?

"However, I have no intention of just "bolt"ing and letting you dictate for whom I will vote. I'd say, "screw" you, but since you are a fellow Republican and a Freeper, I won't be that mean."

Good for you, pal.
You've the rare combo of both courage *&* character.
That alone will send the quislings scrambling for the high grass, trust me.

These kinds of self-described "conservatives" {spit} don't know the *meaning* of R.Reagan's "11th Commandment," my friend.

Now that alone oughta tell you all you need to know about what kind of people they are or, would want to know.

...as opposed to what they'll say? ;^)

Don't let this happen to you;

Republicanwizard is a 5th Columnist liberal. There are a handful of them on FR, always pushing for the Leftward of the Republican candidates passionately. I just couldn't stand it anymore when the moron actually tried to pull the "out of stater" line that applied to them so much during our recall, yet never seemed to prevent them from hysterically pushing us towards our doom.

I think it's a waste of time to argue with RINOs on FR. Just state your position and don't give them the satisfaction of egging you on.

*Excellent* up-front report of what's happening in this race, joanie.
Thanks.

Not being from PA doesn't mean I don't have a stake in seeing RINO Spectre given his walking papers this time.
Next I'd be delighted seeing the disgrace McCaniac given the heave-ho out the door by the AZ constituency.

But the whole magilla's gonna come down to this:

"A friend of mine from the Pittsburgh area called me a few weeks ago and said that one of the things that is tucked in the backs of many people’s minds out there is that ghostly field in Shanksville where citizen soldiers on Flight 93 performed their heroism before the field was littered with charred bodies and debris on 9/11/01. Even normally liberal voters in that area are somehow consciously aware of the fact that it is conservative leadership, not liberal lip service, that will stand up to the madmen who turned that field into a mass graveyard. And it sits there today as a constant reminder of the perils of weak leadership."

Now we all know what a magnificent job this administration's done for our security with support from conservatives in both houses; but, the success has also scared the begebbers outa the Liberal-Socialists who're obviously seeing their political lives pass before their beady little eyes.

It all comes down to the effectivness of the relentless lies, distortions & smears the media wing of the 'Rat's Liberal-Socialist Party of ABCNBCCBSMSNBCCNN have been carpetbombing the public with for months.

This election's going to be a measure of how much people are in tune to reality & able to make up their own minds.

...or if they're still as *programmable* as ever.

I agree, however it is important to call a spade a spade in order to put their scattershot strategy for the GOP and "logic" in the proper context, if for no other reason than the benefit of people who might take them seriously.

>> [To: Republican Wizard] Spare us conservatives from out of state. I distinctly remember your RINO a$$ yelling at every Tom McClintock supporter on here about California and you claimed that it did not matter that you weren't from MY STATE. What were the odds that I would come on this thread and see your dithering idiocy backing another liberal Republican? Pretty good I'd say. My state now has forced through the same bond issue Gray Davis and Bustamante proposed, cut only a fraction of the budget, and at not quite the 6 month mark, the liberal Republican has started sneaking a second illegal immigrant license bill (1160) throught the Leg, and (R)nold is already floating the trial balloon of raising our outrageously high taxes because he was lying all along. The GOP out here will be damaged for a generation when this ego driven fool is finished with his term, and its all thanks to sell outs like yourself. Any PA lurkers reading this should realize that RINOs like yourself are a cancer. <<

Bravo!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I love how "Republican" Wizard hides behind "I am doing it because MY President says so" excuse to promote liberals. Since he apparently needs the President to hold his hand and tell him how to vote, I wonder if he blindly agrees with the President on everything.

I doubt this, since President Bush's policy is to ALWAYS back the incumbent in contested primaries. Bush "officially" backed Bob Smith over John Sununu back in 2002. Does anyone think "Republican" Wizard was running around spreading vicious attacks against Sununu and telling everyone what a "terrible opportunist" John was? That's a good laugh. RINOWizard doesn't NEED to do the President's bidding unless its to protect a fellow RINO. Funny how that works out.

I wonder if RINOWizard would vote to uphold McCain-Feingold if there was a referendum vote on it? I mean, he could always say "MY President signed the bill, how DARE other Republicans undermine MY President on the issue". Maybe RINOWizard wants to defend ol' George Ryan, the criminal governor of Illinois, from his upcoming imprisonment. He could always say "MY President CHOOSE George Ryan as his Illinois state coordinator in 2000 and campaigned side-by-side with him... I am so sick of Republicans campaigning against great patriots like George Ryan when George spoke out for MY President".

Ah, blind loyalty.

This campaign is great because it exposes all the RINOs who are running tooth-and-nail to defend the very things they attacked in 2002. Perhaps they forgot that "we need to get rid of renegade embarrassments to the party who undermine our President". Oops, turns out to be one of THEIR guys in 2004!

I'm still waiting for RINOWizard to respond from my post from a few months back. He posted about a dozen angry rants about how the evil Toomey backers were "resorting to blatant lying" when everyone pointed out that Snarlin Scottish Law Arlen obstructed conservative judges. RINOWizard demanded someone cite a specific judge that Bush nominated who was being blocked by Snarlin' Arlen. I copied and pasted a detailed story that gave him that exact information. I have to hear RINOWizard's rebuttal to these "lies"!
