There will be more American deaths before this is over....that is a fact.......they(bad guys) want to stop the June 30th handover......once this is turned over to the Iraqs.....the mideast will not tolerate AQ/Sunni terrorists killing other muslims.

Read the Zarqawi letter we captured it will help you to understand .......what is happening today is in that letter.

After you read it ......look me up on FR I'll discuss it with you.

An excellent suggestion.... EVERYONE who has doubts today should re-read that letter.

It must be a 'dog-day' eh, Dog?

Yes, thanks for reminding me of the Zarkawi letter. I have read it in full several times. I think his main initial goal was civil war between Sunnis and Shia. If they both turn on us in a big way, it might be worse even than what Zarkawi was after.

Yes, it's still too soon to say that the sky is falling. And one silver lining is that we still have some troops in Iraq that are due to be rotated out that haven't left yet. Sucks for them, of course, but they might be retained, in part.

I would add, though, regarding the Zarkawi letter, that we tend to focus too much on Al Qaeda sometimes. The Sunnis and Shia, and even the Kurds, have interests of their own that don't necessarily dovetail with what Al Qaeda wants.
