It's Sadr's Shi'ites helping the insurgents west of Baghdad. They were probably responsible for most of the insurgency in Baghdad. They're trying to buy some time for the insurgents in Fallujah and Ramadi.
Last stand of the insurgency.

Last stand of the insurgency. The commies in Vietnam were crushed during the 1968 Tet offensive.
It was Walter Cronkite and the media whores who declared it an American defeat.
The rest is history.
Thank God Bush is no Johnson!

Iran is making their move because all other indirect attempts have failed to stop US progress in Iraq. My concern is when the Sadrites fail, will Iran commit her volunteers into the war? Is US troop position and intel prepared for such an outcome? As long as the Sadrites fight in open battles, they will be destroyed, but on the other hand if they choose to fight as guerilla forces, we will be hard pressed.

(US troops, if you hear gunfire and screaming out of the Sunni Triangle, just ignore it)
