In that apparent meeting between the Fallujah insurgent leaders with Sadr, they must have been like:

"We just lost Baquoba. The Americans will concentrate on us now. Create trouble for them and we will grant you a lot of power when the Americans are gone."

Just saw an update on Fox with Bret....boiled down to...he said the news reporters have no idea whats going on....

The press has no clue = good news. We might be able to take care of plenty of business before the smoke clears.

Marines move further into Fallujah

(Fallujah, Iraq-AP) -- U-S military commanders say Marines have moved deep into the violent city of Fallujah (fuh-LOO'-juh).

Marines are engaged in a battle against insurgents in the city -- where four civilian U-S contractors were killed last week.

Commanders say several U-S helicopters have been hit by ground fire, but none has been brought down. They also report a number of injuries among U-S Marines.

Five other Marines died near Fallujah yesterday and today as U-S forces moved into the city.

Marines say they've killed about 20 insurgents -- and they've detained at least a dozen others, who are being interrogated.

Fierce urban combat is reported on the streets of Fallujah. Marines are holding positions in houses along the northern edge of the town.

A-P correspondent Lourdes Navarro, with a company of Marines on the edge of Fallujah, says they're moving a few city blocks at a time.

This will not be quick. President Bush has warned this will be a long fight. International terrorism is well established in many nations and cleaning out Terror Central will take time and effort.

RATmedia sabotage is deadly and media bombs are killing our soldiers and allies. But it is not as effective as it once was. We must take the fight to the most deadly enemies of America NBC/CBS/ABC/NYT/CNN etc. Of this there is no doubt but don't fall for the LIE that this is not being handled correctly because Nirvana didn't occur Yesterday.

Most of the world is going to HATE us no matter WHAT we do

Agreed, We could leave Iraq a peaceful, prosperous democracy, and people will still protest and criticize us :-)

The problem is, we should be creating about 3-4 countries out of Iraq. England and France and whoever else (probably Turkey, although I'm not sure if they had any influence after the Ottoman Empire fell) created one of the worst drawn nations in existence. The only reason Iraq wasn't like this during Saddam's reign, was because he brutally oppressed the other ethnic groups.

No matter what, I hope the Kurds come out of this okay. They have been **** upon by just about everybody around them, and they still managed to keep functioning educational systems and somewhat of a democratic system going.

Agreed.
We need not accept anybody campaigning for elections while engaging in war.
I dare anybody to open their cake hole while we shock and awe the souls right out of them.

Yup. Taking on a USMC division HQ is roughly equivalent to taking on an Army light infantry battalion.

Wonder if these folks are starting to think that they really FUBARed themselves this time?

Friedman would likely know. I was under the impression he left the ruins for awhile as a warning. Rarely mentioned are the many reporte that, after reducing the city to rubble and murdering anyone who could be found, Assad used cyanide gas amid the ruins to assure there were no survivors.

He knows he is going down for the death of a fellow cleric who opposed him. He's decided to go down fighting.

Works for me. Sadr is a mullah wannabe, a guy who wants to be half warlord, half spiritual leader. His days are numbered.
